Interior Decoration Needed

Something has to be done about this room, it has no view and everything is just laying on the floor! To clear the room, it is not enough to send this to the recycling bin. Idleness is the workshop of the devil and so here are a few thoughts that can put these legal tender paper to good use:
  1. Rehabilitate and build shelters for those with no choices and no voices. These are the aged, the mentally handicapped and the orphans as well as endangered animals and abandoned pets. Government will not touch them as they have no voting power as non-significant members of the population. The aged who have no family to support them or can't support their geriatric needs have lost their ability to earn. The Social Security they receive is not enough to live on, therefore it but right to restore their dignity by providing for them a happy environment for the rest of their lives. The childrenwho did not choose to be born and have been abandoned by parents , they too should be given an opportunity to lead better lives. If they struck out by having awful parents at least they will have a new beginning where they will be nurtured to be thinkers and readers with hearts. The mentally handicapped have had no choice in their situation in life too but they should still be given respect and dignity.  As the  old song goes "Bless the beast and the children for in this world they have no choice, they have no voice.." I just added the aged and the mentally handicapped.
  2. I do not like charities as they breed a mentality of mendicancy and helplessness. Even the marginalized sector must pull their weight and so they should be given more education: farmers should be taught entrepreneurial skills to handle their harvests better and during slack time as they wait for the fruits to bear they must learn alternative livelihoods; micro lending for single parent women, if they have partners they are disqualified as their men should be able to provide for them. I just want to give the opportunities to those who are wiling to work for it and have no other resources, as they are totally alone.
  3. Prioritize teachers by rewarding them for researches, atendance in continuing education, writing books in their fields of expertise...give the intellectuals their just rewards to lead a comfortable life so they may be able to spend more time sharing knowledge rather than trying to make ends meet.
  4. Enough of beauty parlors, tricycles, jeeps, taxis and sari-sari stores as the usual business venture. If entrepreneurs and inventors have innovative and creative ideas they should be rewarded by having their concepts realized. Intelligence should be rewarded with opportunity. We should breed people with vision.
  5. Plant ylang-ylang trees. They are income generating and strong dollar earners for the oil extracted and our variety yields the best essences. It is indegenous to our country and therefore, if all empty lots were planted with it not only is it good for he environment it is also good for the pocket of the tree farmers.
With these simple things I would have cleared the room with more to spare for sustaining what has been started. Alas, still no window for a view, at least I have a framed window in pastel with the sunshine creeping in to hang on the wall. Cheap thrills...

The Baby Emperor

Aiming to purchase this painting of the Emperor Pu Yi by Ming Hin from Gallery 1000 in the Americas. Politically seems to depict the desire of monarchy to return to power but really it is just a child wanting to go home (which happens to be a palace). Wawa baby! Hope I can own this, but if not, then it was not meant to be. Life is simple.

Unaware that the seat he was to occupy was simply too much for him given the circumstances around him. A time when ignorance is bliss. Happy baby just playing and learning gross motor skills as a toddler...CUTE! but sad if you know your history the published and unpublished accounts of zee Royal Margarines!!! Anyway this painting has been sold, so i have been told...naks ryhming.

Antique Photo

A stroll in some antique shops with Androminus Scobiscus was really fruitful. I accidentally found an old photograph taken by my grandfather who once owned the most illustrious photo studio in Manila before he ventured into films and became known as "Ama ng Pelikulang Pilipino" or "Father of Philippine Cinema", Don Jose Nepomuceno y Zialcita.

Having informed the store owner what I was looking for, and how to reach me should they come upon such items, I was about to leave when a photo captured my attention from a stack of photos. Lo and behold at the very bottom was Fot. Nepomuceno (short for fotografo Nepomuceno), the client Srta. M. Navarro and behind it was the studio address: 335 Regidor Manila. Telephone number: 4909. Four digits only! And ever so clearly it said Jose Nepomuceno. None other. Advertised were the store hours (in Spanish) Se retrata de 8 A 11 A.M. y de 4 A 8 P.M.

Lolo sure did take long power lunches and a siesta!

What a treat for his great-grandson to discover together, a long forgotten photograph that depicted the artistry and pioneering spirit of his ancestry. If you look closely at the photo, the lips have been painted red, probably pink with age but long before colored pictures were possible Lolo's innovative skills reflected his formal training as engineer and artist.

There is a reason for everything...the sudden urge to go to a place we rarely frequent, to stroll aimlessly and chance upon chances... such is life.
